Pat Fletcher often expressed the desire to establish a means of providing financial assistance to deserving, young Canadian golfers to continue their education at the post-secondary level. He wanted to return something to the game of golf that had enriched his life and career. As such, he was committed to establishing a charitable foundation that would be supported by persons and organizations interested in golf and education.
The Pat Fletcher Scholarship Foundation was established in 1986 as a tribute to Pat Fletcher鈥檚 many accomplishments. The Foundation began through the generous contributions and efforts of many people and is fulfilling its objectives.
The first scholarship was awarded in 1988 and the Foundation continues to thrive. The Foundation is a non-profit, federally-licensed organization duly accredited for income tax purposes. The registration number is 0716787-25-08.
Application Requirements
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Age Requirement: Must be 24 or younger
- Residency: Must be a Canadian student
- Financial Need: Must demonstrate financial need
- Education Level: Must be pursuing post-secondary education
Scholarship Details
- Award Amount: Up to $2,500 per year
- Use of Funds: Can be used for tuition, books, room, and board
- Duration: One-year term only (not automatically renewable)
- Renewal Requirement: Must re-apply each year with updated academic and athletic achievements
